Rain Barrel Additional Information
They are second-hand plastic barrels being reused as rain barrels, instead of being dumped into the landfill. They can be painted whatever color you like, but it is recommended you sand the outside of your barrel first. They are approximately 2’ wide and 3’ tall and have a volume of approximately 45 gallons, but as reused barrels they are not all exactly alike, and occasionally we get different sizes. If you want to get a watering can or bucket underneath your tap then you will want to raise your barrel on cinder blocks or the like. The barrels come with all the taps and attachments needed for each particular barrel design. You will want to cover the tap threads with some Teflon tape to get the best seal. Do not let your barrels fill up with water in the winter because if the water freezes the barrel with probably crack.
