Composting Methods
Which method you use depends on how much time and energy you wish to put into composting.
Mulching involves putting material on top of the soil around plants to retain moisture and limit weed growth.
Soil incorporation involves placing the material in a hole or in sheets under the soil.
Grasscycling involves leaving the cuttings on the lawn to return the nutrients to the grass.
The continual feed method involves adding waste as it is generated. When you add some make sure you balance the browns and greens and mix in the top layers with those in the middle. This method is slower but it takes less work and is easy to do.
The hot and quick method involves collecting material until you have enough for at least one cubic meter. You then pile it up, mixing browns and greens and let it begin. Every three days you need to completely turn the pile making sure that the material is rotated from the outside of the pile to the inside of the pile. This method is quick but is the most labour intensive method. It also requires stockpiling material.
