Details: Many people approach Clean Calgary Association staff and say “I’m already recycling, saving energy, conserving water and trying not to use my car. What’s the next step?” The answer is EcoLogic.

The EcoLogic course is designed to expose participants to a variety of issues and give them practical actions they can implement in their lives.  The topics are presented by experts in their respective fields and Clean Calgary Association staff and include:

1)       Overconsumption, waste, recycling and the plastics question

2)       Energy efficiency and alternative energy

3)       Indoor air quality, toxins and green cleaning

4)       Water issues and conservation

5)       Transportation issues

6)       Global citizenship and influence

The idea is to start off with a global overview and then start to focus on the local level. The course also includes two optional field trips; the Waste Water treatment plant and a recycling facility.

We will also cover how to discuss environmental issues with friends and family and how to get involved with positive change projects in the city.

Field Trips: One field trip is planned for the Waste Water Treatment Plant and the second is not yet confirmed.

Volunteer Commitment Option: EcoLogic volunteers can fulfill their hours in many different ways. Preferably, each volunteer will implement a project or initiative in their community or workplace which will achieve lasting change. Alternatively, volunteers are welcome to choose from the following roles:

  • Volunteering at Clean Calgary Association’s EcoStore
  • Volunteering at Clean Calgary Association’s Annual Rain Barrel Sale or other one-day events
  • Environmental Information Provider- Phones or Email
  • Program specific volunteering such as giving presentations
  • Research
  • Building projects
  • Administrative tasks
